About
Hedy Bach is a visual narrative inquirer originally from Calgary, Alberta.
She is an award winning visual researcher, writer, and imagemaker. Her background is in visual arts and curriculum theory from the University of Alberta, Edmonton Alberta.
Bach holds a Bachelor of Education, Art Major (with distinction) 1990, Masters in Education (with honours) 1993, Doctor of Philosophy in Education, 1997 and a Horowitz Teacher Education Postdoctoral Fellowship, 1998.
Hedy's first book ‘A Visual Narrative Concerning Curriculum, Girls, Photography Etc.’ was published in 1998 and explores the evaded curriculum in the lived experiences of high school girls through photography and story.
As an educator she has taught art education to K-12 student teachers at the U of A from 1996 to 2016. Currently, she is working on a manuscript entitled ‘Emeline’ which is a graphic novel being created by cutting up and reorganizing illustrations from cultural artifacts, photography, and literature.
Hedy continues to explore compositions of her photography, mixed stories and words from music on various topics of interest to both photographers and storytellers.
